ABOUT MOVEMENT LOFT DANCE COMPANY

Movement Loft Dance Company is a recreational dance company formed to provide adults of all ages and backgrounds performance opportunities.

Our programming is designed to support the whole artist: providing access to classes and workshops to improve technique; social experiences to build community through art; and public performance opportunities that enrich our community by making dance accessible.

All of our members are non-professional recreational dancers who have experience with dance, and a strong desire to grow artistically, technically and personally. And above all- want to have FUN!

CLARA’S CLOCKWORK DREAM: A NUTCRACKER REIMAGINED

Movement Loft Dance Company presents a modern take on a holiday classic, with musical accompanied performed by live orchestra trio, EMERGE Coalition Inc.

Step into a dazzling 1920s world where clockwork magic meets jazz-age glamour in this steampunk rendition of The Nutcracker.

Enjoy spectacular acts filled with ballet, and a variety of dance styles including tap, jazz, hip hop and more.

When a mysterious party guest gifts her a curious Nutcracker unlike any other, she’s swept into an adventure where time bends, machines come to life, and every turn of a gear reveals a new twist of fate.

Set to a reimagined score blending Tchaikovsky’s timeless melodies with modern hits, this bold retelling fuses vintage elegance with futuristic fantasy for a holiday experience that shimmers with innovation and nostalgia friendly for all ages.

Commitment:

You do not need to have performed professionally before, however you will need to be familiar with dance terminology and learning choreography. You will also need to be comfortable with performing publicly.

During this season our goal is to develop and grow our dancers artistically, providing opportunities to expand your technique, focus, dedication and passion for the art.

• MLDC Members commit to performing in a minimum of 1 piece per season

• MLDC Members attend at least 80% of rehearsals

• MLDC Members should be actively taking classes to improve technique and skills

• MLDC Members will be cast in one showcase show, and in the Command Performance

• New prospective members must attend an information session, Placement Day, and a minimum of 3 classes at the Movement Loft in order to join the company
